Older already? 32 and unfortunately still counting

As my 32nd birthday party started, I didn’t feel old, just “older.”  I was surrounded by not only friends of all ages, but babies and kids now.  As I get older, my friends have babies, which they later turn into kids.  I have more than a few friends with kids as old as 4-5 years old.  Now again, this doesn’t make me feel old, but it definitely makes me feel older.

We stuffed our faces with BBQ, played Rock Band, and was even surprised with a Pinata of SpongeBob.  As I unknowingly started to swing at the yellow paper mache, my friend’s 4-year-old daughter ran off crying and screaming, as she had never seen a Pinata either, especially of a character she knew and loved.  Shortly after the leg flew off, the remains of the pinata came down with a few bags of candy, and little Sophie quickly came back out to gather the goods.

I continued talking with friends, taking photos of babies, and even enjoyed a little water balloon fight in the driveway.  Allison was an excellent planner, from the Black Forrest Cake with fruit on top, to the colored bandannas she bought so we could determine who was on whose team if we went to play Capture the Flag.  Unfortunately, time, exhaustion, and food comas permitted us from doing so, coincidentally, results of us all feeling “older.”

We wrapped up an excellent day fairly early.  Great food, great friends, and great memories!  I have now been contracted to come to a birthday party and take photos of my friends kids.  Weddings to Pets to Journalism and now kids, who knew.  But if it’s deals with a camera, I’m ready to tackle it!!  Thanks again to everyone who came and thanks to my wonderful girlfriend Allison for planning everything!!  Cheers!
