Kollaboration has celebrated 13 years of amazing concerts and performances and has spread across the nation to 14 cities. With some huge names performing and attending these shows, it’s always a fascination to see where these talented individuals will head to next. This year, the winners of the annual show at the Ford Amphitheatre was the brothers of John and Daniel Rhee. With great singing and music, they won entry into the Kollaboration Star 2013 contest later this fall for a chance to win $20,000 against the rest of the nations top Kollaboration winners. The Verizon audience choice award went to the dancing team of EVOKE as they took home $500 for their fancy dancing.
Throughout the night, I knew the judges were going to have a hard time. Paul “PK” Kim, the founder of Kollaboration, hosted the night and introduced the performers while entertaining with his comedy. Some of the other amazing performers included Ashley Yoon, EVMB, Hanna Kim, Justin Klunk, Mike B, Priska, Russell Curry, and Verseatile. Rapping, singing, dancing, beat boxing, and saxphone playing kept tonights amazing crowd entertained for hours. There were even some surprise highlights with the intermission freestyle dance competition where a mystery dancer by the name of Butters, popped his way to $100 and a crowd chanting his name. Searching on youtube, you actually find a dance battle where he performed against the well known Mike Song.
The headliners were also an amazing thing to see, as Run River North, previously named Monsters Calling Home, were performing 3 songs for the fans tonight. After recently recording their first CD in Seattle, they recently became discovered after doing a online YouTube video in their Honda Fit. Honda wanted to thank them and brought them to a surprise performance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show.
Enjoy the photos from the event and I can’t wait to see what Kollaboration Star 2013 has in store for us. Check out the bios of all the performers of last weeks show on Kollaborations website here. http://www.kollaboration.org/news/upcoming
