I began taking pictures as a hobby starting with my first Polaroid camera at the age of 6.  I captured a flower that had just bloomed from under 2 inches of snow.  I never would have guessed that I would later fall in love with photography so much that it would change my entire life.

I was adopted from South Korea at the young age of 6 months old.  My amazing parents raised me in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where I participated in activities like tennis, table tennis, choir, and soccer.  I was also fortunate to have an adopted sister Amy, also from Korea, who currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  I believe some of my artistic nature came from the fact that both my grandmother and mother are artists and my dad was a hobbyist photographer.

Traveling and taking photos was always a love for me with my shoeboxes of 4x6 photos I had taken on trips with my family.  In 1997, I finally started taking trips on my own, bringing along with me my Nikon N60 film camera.  A few years later, I upgraded and got my very first digital camera.  In 2006, I bought my first Digital SLR and since then, you can guess the rest.  Much of my income over the past 5 years has gone back into new equipment, mastering lighting, commercial photography, composition, and finding ways to share those photos with the world.

With this new found passion for photography, I traveled to New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Canada, Europe, and Alaska with the sole intention to capture life.  The world held such beauty that I was sure I was going to find new and exciting ways to see it if I could just focus on finding it and capturing it.

After I got back, I continued to advance my technique and enrolled in photography classes at Santa Monica College for 2 years.  My thirst for new challenges keeps me learning and growing, allowing me to develop my visions into quality works of art.  In 2009, I became the photo editor of the college newspaper, the Santa Monica Corsair, winning a few awards at statewide competitions.  Photojournalism was now just something I saw in the paper, it was something I understood and felt I could apply to my everyday life.

In 2007, I started Nathan Nowack Photography LLC and have marketed myself as a Photojournalistic Style Wedding Photographer.  My photography portfolio, photographer contacts, and clients have continued to grow.  I enjoy meeting new people and sharing the experience of being included on their very special day.  I want everyone who sees these photos, to feel the moment that was taking place without distraction.  This emotional connection and artistic style is what I strive for in every event.  I have setup my office/studio in Fullerton, California, which is a perfect centralized location between Orange County and Los Angeles.

Along with shooting weddings and portraits, I have photographed for fine art, corporate events, bar mitzvahs, commercial photography and pet photography as well.  I am also involved in an instructional photography video blog, entitled Photosodes.com where my friend Erich Chen and I try to share our knowledge about photography while also having some fun.
